How you'll make a difference

As a Principal Research and Intelligence Officer you will play a role in delivering the council’s statutory duty to create evidence based policies. As part of the corporate research and consultation team you will consolidate existing research and consultation effort across the council.

 

What will you be doing? 

You will be the corporate lead specialist officer for the analysis of census statistics, deprivation statistics and other key socio economic and demographic estimates and projections.  You will provide clear and concise interpretation of the findings for technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.

Daily you’ll promote the strategic value of research and consultation across the council and with partner organisations, ensuring information meets the needs of services and supports the achievement of corporate priorities for improving services and making the best possible use of resources.

In this role you will lead, and commission, a wide range of research and consultation on behalf of the council and partner organisations, including demographic analysis, customer profiling, economic assessments and land use planning research.

You will develop and implement appropriate corporate mechanisms, practices and procedures in respect of research and consultation, which are in line with national guidance and local priorities, to ensure consistency, timeliness, coordination and value for money.

What we need from you

  • You will hold a degree level qualification and membership of a relevant professional body with substantial experience of consultation, engagement, market research and statistical intelligence.
  • We require you to have specialist knowledge of statistical techniques and issues with experience of interpreting information from a variety of sources to draw logical conclusions and make recommendations for improvements.
  • You can demonstrate substantial experience of leading on geospatial analysis using specialist software research, data assimilation and report writing for a range of difference audiences
  • It is essential you will have experience of designing and undertaking customer segmentation, profiling and analysis to support strategy and policy development, decision making and service planning.
