How you'll make a difference

As an Information Management Systems Support Assistant (IMS) you will provide support and guidance to schools through a service desk setup and will produce clear documentation and web-based guidance. 

What will you be doing?  
  • On a daily basis you will be providing support to the Local Authority officers, schools and academies in the effective use of pupil information, to meet data requirements through the quality deployment and implementation of Management Information Systems (MIS).
  • You’ll be providing technical advice and guidance to our customers and colleagues, interpreting and applying policies and technical principles, ensuring that effective customer relationships are established and maintained.
  • A key part of the role will be to develop innovative solutions to technical issues ensuring that appropriate solutions are proposed and successfully implemented.

What we need from you

  • You will be educated to degree level in an IT related subject, or have substantial relevant experience.
  • We require you to have knowledge of schools MIS and maintain an up to date knowledge of the MIS as used in schools (currently Capita SIMS but not limited to), in order to contribute to the delivery of a high-quality support service to end users. You also require knowledge of schools MIS methodology and recent practice and practical experience implementing IMS solutions in or for a school environment.
  • It is key that you have knowledge of the DfE statutory requirements and the way that information and performance data about pupils is used by schools, especially its definition, collection, analysis and application.
  • It is essential that you have excellent communication, presentational and interpersonal skills with evidence of an ability to communicate technical and/or complex business related processes to an audience in a clear and concise way with practical evidence of leading a team of professionals in a project or key business process.
  • You must have knowledge of remote desktop applicationsl and a basic understanding of Microsoft SQL (and the client/server relationship).
