How you'll make a difference

The Housing Access team works with landlords who offer permanent social housing, supported housing and private sector lets for homelessness prevention. As a team leader you’ll make a difference by providing day-to-day supervision of a team providing high quality, comprehensive housing support and housing allocations/ resettlement services in accordance with Council policy and legislation.

What will you be doing?  
 
  • You will co-ordinate and manage the provision of housing support and resettlement services. This will include assessing the suitability of housing offers to customers, supported housing, and properties offered to discharge a homelessness duty.
  • You’ll lead on monitoring operational quality assurance standards in relation to the provision of housing support and resettlement services to prevent and relieve homelessness.
  • It will be your responsibility to operate statutory responses to requests for review, information, and enquiries from members of the public and their representatives in line with legislation and council policy.
  • You will be responsible for managing and monitoring resources and budgets within your service area, ensuring that maximum value is delivered.
  • You will provide advice for complex cases across HomeChoice and to the staff directly managed and within the Housing Access Team.

What we need from you

  • You will hold a degree level of qualification in housing or related sector or have significant relevant experience in housing.
  • You can demonstrate experience in front line housing advice in a similar setting and have an understanding of housing solutions and remedies and the needs of vulnerable people and minority groups.
  • You’ll have experience in housing or homelessness, including significant knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, and good understanding of related statutory duties.
  • You have the ability to manage a challenging workload, meet statutory timescales and organise the work of a team, giving feedback on performance.
  • You have knowledge and experience of working closely with other specialist agencies and partners to ensure that barriers to housing are addressed and support is in place to help sustain tenancies.
  • You can demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions and identify solutions for complex cases.
Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post
