Team Manager - Newly Qualified Social Work (ASYE) Pod

At South Gloucestershire Council we are immensely proud of the skills, abilities and compassion of all our social workers and wider team members – demonstrated even more so during the recent years of the  pandemic.  

A key priority during this time is to support and develop newly qualified social workers embarking on their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment.  In order to meet these workers’ needs and ensure that there is committed and focused support in place, South Gloucestershire Council launched an exciting pilot NQSW team within the Access & Response service during  2021-22.  This pilot was evaluated with positive feedback and we now plan to develop this as a permanent offer.

Each year the ASYE team will be based in a different service area within Children’s services ,giving a Team Manager a unique opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge across a range of service areas

For a 12 month period this team will hold NQSWs exclusively, providing an environment of close professional oversight, quality reflective personal and group supervision whilst completing all the requirements of the ASYE.

We need a dedicated and focused Team Manager who can provide support, recognition, guidance and professional oversight to these NQSWs and who can ultimately prepare them for moving into more autonomous practice. 

Starting In July 2022 the team will be based within the 0-18 Children with Disabilities Service; and will be reviewed for each annual intake – meaning this role will give you the flexibility of leading teams across various functions of Integrated Children’s Services.

• You will be a current Team Manager or aspiring Team Manager (Advanced or Senior Social Worker) who is passionate about developing others, who is keen to share their own knowledge and skills and has the willingness and ability to nurture these workers who are at the very start of their professional social work career.

• You will have relevant professional qualification and experience in a relevant setting, that must include experience of management of staff (including students), and supervision of other professionals. 
• You will be able to evidence your ability to lead teams to achieve optimum performance in delivering excellent social care services for children.  
• You will have evidence of on-going continuous professional development and a thorough knowledge of current legislation and practice relating to children and young people’s services.

Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
