How you'll make a difference

You will make a difference as a PCV Driver by assisting and aiding children and young people to be able to attend places of education, as well as the providing transport for vulnerable young people or adults and providing in-house goods delivery services. 
We have Full Time,Term Time only and Casual positions available.
(Term Time only and Casual positons will be pro-rata at full time salary advertised)
What will you be doing? 
  • You will be operating specialist vehicles on a daily basis and to a high standard, ensuring that safety procedures are followed and reporting faults and breakdowns as part of routine checks of equipment.
  • If the particular route being driven requires the provision of a Guide Escort, you will have overall responsibility for the safe operation of the vehicles and the supervision of the guide escort whilst on the transport.
  • You will work within the approved risk assessment framework, ensuring the safety of yourself and colleagues reporting any issues of concern.
  • As you will be operating a passenger carrying vehicle safely in line with law and legislation you will be communicating with customers to give good, accurate advice and information.
  • You may also be required to drive a public bus service operating fares, which will require you to handle cash.
Please note that this role will involve manual handling of wheelchairs and passengers including the operating of tail lifts, ramps and wheelchair securing equipment.  It may also require manual handling of boxes / crates / mail bags when carrying out deliveries of goods rather than passengers.

What we need from you

  • You will hold at minimum a clean vocational driving licence – full class D1 with no restrictions and you will hold a valid Driver CPC card 
  • You should be able to demonstrate that you are able to plan and drive routes in the most efficient manner.
  • You will be able to effectively communicate with your team and where relevant customers.  

Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
