How you'll make a difference

As a Environmental Health and Building Control Support Officer (Administrator) you will be responsible for providing efficient, responsive and high quality technical support to the Environment and Community Services Department - Safe Strong Communities.

This post is restricted to permanent and temporary employees of South Gloucestershire Council only. 

What will you be doing? 
 
  • You will provide support to the Environmental Health department, responding to service and customer requests, queries, or complaints, seeing through queries and advising those involved of actions taken.
  • In this varied role, you will work within a busy, fast paced environment and be responsible for the logging of service requests and providing timely responses to both customers and colleagues.
  • You will undertake the processing of other duties, such as Pest Control, Public Health Funerals, Noise complaints and queries relating to Food Registrations.
  • You will be dealing with personal, and sometimes sensitive information and will be required to input this data precisely and accurately.
  • You will work with both internal and external stakeholders, members of the public, local and parish councillors, applicants, licensees, developers, businesses and other organisations.
  • You will operate to established procedures and targets.

What we need from you

  • You will hold a minimum qualification of NVQ level 3 (or equivalent qualification) including English and Maths, or you will hold equivalent relevant experience in administration or business support.
  • It is essential that you are well organised and able to plan your work.
  • Communication is key in this role, so you must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with service users, professionals and partnership agencies using a variety of media i.e. email, phone, face to face, taking minutes etc.
  • You will demonstrate practical skills and experience in using a range of IT packages with experience in using databases, including running standard reports, analysing data and presenting findings.
