How you'll make a difference

As a Environmental Health and Building Control Support Officer (Administrator) you will be responsible for providing efficient, responsive and high quality technical support to the Environment and Community Services Department - Safe Strong Communities.

This post is restricted to permanent and temporary employees of South Gloucestershire Council only.

What will you be doing?

You will provide support to the Environmental Health department, responding to service and customer requests, queries, or complaints, seeing through queries and advising those involved of actions taken.
In this varied role, you will work within a busy, fast paced environment and be responsible for the logging of service requests and providing timely responses to both customers and colleagues.
You will undertake the processing of other duties, such as Pest Control, Public Health Funerals, Noise complaints and queries relating to Food Registrations.
You will be dealing with personal, and sometimes sensitive information and will be required to input this data precisely and accurately.
You will work with both internal and external stakeholders, members of the public, local and parish councillors, applicants, licensees, developers, businesses and other organisations.
You will operate to established procedures and targets.

What we need from you

You will hold a minimum qualification of NVQ level 3 (or equivalent qualification) including English and Maths, or you will hold equivalent relevant experience in administration or business support.
It is essential that you are well organised and able to plan your work.
Communication is key in this role, so you must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with service users, professionals and partnership agencies using a variety of media i.e. email, phone, face to face, taking minutes etc.
You will demonstrate practical skills and experience in using a range of IT packages with experience in using databases, including running standard reports, analysing data and presenting findings.
