How you'll make a difference

We are looking for a creative and proactive marketing professional who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people in South Gloucestershire.

As a Marketing Officer for Fostering, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and delivering targeted marketing activities to promote the benefits and impact of becoming a foster carer.

Your work will be critical in helping us to recruit more foster carers, so that we can provide more children and young people with the homes they need.

You will need to have a strong understanding of marketing principles and be able to develop creative and engaging marketing campaigns.

If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people, and you have the skills and experience to deliver successful marketing campaigns, then we would love to hear from you.

What will you be doing?

  • Plan and execute advertising campaigns to promote fostering through a variety of media, including print, direct mail, media advertising, online, social media, and outdoor advertising.
  • Work with in-house designers to develop and implement marketing materials to attract and engage prospective foster carers.
  • Conduct market research and monitor trends to identify opportunities to promote fostering within South Gloucestershire.
  • Create media opportunities to secure positive media coverage in and outside of the district, highlighting South Gloucestershire Council's need for foster carers.
  • Write copy, assist with media relations, and create internal communications and digital content.
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns against agreed communications objectives and strategies.
  • You will be part of the fostering Recruitment and Assessment Team, and work closely with the corporate communications team.

What we need from you

  • You will hold or be working towards a relevant professional qualification in marketing, event management or public relations or equivalent, or be able to demonstrate an equal level of experience in marketing, communications, public relations and or similar role.
  • You will have proven experience of delivering integrated marketing campaigns that produce measurable results.
  • You will have excellent copywriting skills for a range of audiences and purposes (e.g. news releases and other media content, reports, leaflets, content for websites).
  • You will be able to understand, analyse and distil a clear message from complex information.
  • You will be required to travel widely within the authority so you must either have a current driving licence and provide a car or have access to appropriate means of travel.

Occasional weekend or evening work may be required to host fostering information events.

Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
