How you'll make a difference

You will make a difference as a Commissioning officer by building strong partnerships with social care, housing and health service providers commissioned by the Council to help improve the provision of care and support for people living in South Gloucestershire.

The Adult Social Care Brokerage Service works with care homes, supported living settings, home care and other community-based support care providers, to find suitable support for people that the social work teams have referred to the service, liaising with the person and their families about the choices available

What will you be doing?

  • You will be working with providers who are commissioned by the Council to provide support to vulnerable adults.
  • You’ll be required to monitor contracts to ensure services are delivered and are meeting outcomes
  • Working in partnership with a wide range of partners so that we meet our strategic commitments
  • Importantly, you will work in co-production with colleagues, partners, people who use services and carers to ensure the services we commission meet outcomes
  • Supporting commissioning and partnership working for specific groups of people such as carers, older people or people with learning difficulties
  • You will support the quality assurance of the services we commission.
  • You will manage and support a small team of Brokers to ensure cost effective and high quality services are provided to meet individuals support needs.

What we need from you

  • You will have relevant knowledge and experience of working in an organisation that commissions and contracts in social care or similar services and able to demonstrate a flexible approach to working across different areas.
  • You will need excellent interpersonal skills to establish a positive relationship with a wide variety of stakeholders’ contacts and customers.
  • You will have demonstrable experience of meeting service standards, targets and deadlines, be well organised with excellent time management skills and able to manage competing demands.
  • Desirably, you’ll have a degree or professional qualification in social care, health care or business studies
