Our Strategic Planning and Housing Division brings together planning policy, development management, housing enabling and economic development professionals together to deliver sustainable development within the Councils adopted Core Strategy. 
 
 
What you will doing?
  • You will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service by issuing pre-application advice and determining the more straightforward planning applications.
  • In this role you will liaise with elected members, Town and Parish Councils, colleagues, applicants and residents you will ensure that high quality planning decisions are made.
  • As part of your responsibilities, you will examine, process and evaluate minor planning and related applications, including site inspections, negotiations and preparation of reports to the committee, or reports under the officer delegation arrangements.
  • Due to the nature of this role you will be required to travel on Council business on a regular basis, so you must have a current driving license (pool cars are available), or have access to appropriate means of travel.

What we need from you

  • You will be educated to degree level or equivalent preferably in Town Planning. If your experience is not within Town Planning you should have knowledge/experience of development control objectives, procedures and planning law, plus willingness for further training.
  • Ideally, you will have the ability to understand and use scaled drawings and maps as well as relevant experience in the use of electronic mapping (GIS) and database systems.
  • We require you to have an understanding and knowledge of planning legislation.
  • You should be a confident communicator; both in conversation and in writing and have the ability conduct a presentation and using your negotiation skills.
