Handyvan Maintenance Operative / Assistant Operative

Working in our Handyvan Team you will use your tradesman experience to complete a wide range of building repairs for households, schools and commercial properties across South Gloucestershire, with a key objective to provide services to support older and vulnerable people feel safe and remain independent in their own homes.

What will you be doing:

• You will complete maintenance in residential homes such as plumbing repairs, carpentry, flooring, painting and decorating, fencing, decking repairs, shelving, flat pack furniture building or tiling and grouting
• In the role you will conduct work within schools and commercial buildings offering a minor works maintenance service, mainly, plumbing repairs, carpentry, window and door repairs, glazing, drainage, painting and decorating
• It is expected that you will use your technical knowledge to carry out assessments of work environments in homes or offices including costing and invoicing for the work undertaken
• You must ensure work is completed to required standards are followed and that all statutory requirements and professional standards are complied with in order to secure the safety of staff and customers
• You will ensure timely and accurate records are kept on work activities, providing information and be able to communicate effectively with external contractors and suppliers ensuring that value for money is obtained for the organisation

For the Assistant Handyvan Operative (Hay 9 - £27,334 - £29,777)

• We require you to have and in-depth working knowledge and experience of property maintenance, with experience of safe working practices including Health & Safety legislation as it relates to the operational tasks associated building maintenance.
• You will have experience of face-to-face contact with the public within a working environment showing competency in customer care.
• It is key that you have a working knowledge of meeting timebound deadlines, financial targets and costs in an operational team.
• It is essential that you can proficiently use a wide variety of hand and power tools associated with the building trade and have experience in using mobile working technologies such as hand-held devices.
• You will have a good level of competence in literacy and able to interpret information in a variety of formats including bespoke or standard ICT systems, maps and specifications from paper or on hand-held technology. You need a Driving licence and CPC to category C1E no restriction.

For the Handyvan Operative (Hay 8 - £30,296 - £33,024)

• In addition to the above, you will be a Skilled Craftsman with a trade qualification, ideally a City and Guilds.
