How you'll make a difference

You will make a difference as a Community Meals Helper Delivery Driver by delivering meals to members of the community who may not be able to cook for themselves. 
 
You will be part of a dedicated team providing a vital service to a range of customers throughout South Gloucestershire.  Working independently, you will have a regular round providing the opportunity to get to know your customers and build relationships.


What will you be doing? 
 
You will be allocated a South Gloucestershire vehicle and will be required to report daily to Badminton Road, Yate kitchen where you will:

  • pack and collect meals 
  • load containers safely 
  • check the number of meals and the correct dietary requirements against the list provided before setting off on your round
  • responsible for recording meal temperatures and for conducting a welfare check on the members of the community you deliver whilst adhering to Health and Safety and hygiene regulations. 
 
What you need to know
 
  • Community meals is a year-round service, including Christmas and Bank holidays
  • Based at the Council Offices, Badminton Road, Yate, Bristol, BS37 5AF
  • Hours: 10.30 - 14.00 Monday - Friday (plus one weekend in four) *other rotas also in place
  • Allowance: Sunday enhancement (time & half)
  • Uniform will be provided
  • We will offer food hygiene and Allergen training if required

What we need from you

  • A full driving license is essential for this post. 
  • Ideally you will have knowledge of the South Gloucestershire area.
  • You must be comfortable working independently.
  • You will have good communication skills and be confident interacting with people
  • You will be confident in making decisions knowing when to escalate any concerns.
  • You will enjoy working at pace, able to balance your schedule with the needs of your customers.

  • Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
