How you'll make a difference

The HR Policy and Operations Team are responsible for delivering a range of HR services within the council across Employee Relations, HR Policy development, workforce data analytics and the Employee Lifecycle services.   You will make a difference by using your HR and Systems knowledge to solve standard problems and deliver solutions to our internal and external customers.

In addition,  you will be providing support for organisational projects such as annual benchmarking, requests for ad hoc reports and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests relating to HR data.

What will you be doing?

  • You will produce regular standard and adhoc reports related to HR Workforce data.
  • You will support the provision of data, analysis and evaluation for client departments, enabling the organisation to understand its staff establishment and profile and monitor performance against identified people metrics (key performance indicators).
  • It will be your responsibility to respond or signpost queries relating to workforce data, Freedom of Information requests and query resolution.
  • You will also support organisational projects such as annual benchmarking, staff surveys and system related improvements relating to HR data.
  • As a key requirement of the role, you will ensure the content of MyHR (the Council’s main source of self-serve advice and guidance on the internal intranet) is updated and maintained as required, publishing workforce data and ensuring communications with managers and staff are clear and timely.
  • Within our service, you will provide support for council-wide employee relations administration processes including employee appeals and HR/ Trades Unions meetings, ensuring timely responses to queries.

What we need from you

  • We require you to have experience in HR and therefore an understanding of employment policies, procedures and the legislative framework.
  • You must have strong HR systems and data management skills.
  • It is crucial that you have the ability to produce and analyse HR data using Excel and Cognos as required.
  • Ideally you will hold or be working towards a foundation Human Resources qualification such as the CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice and have a willingness to develop your knowledge and experience.
  • It would be advantageous if you have experience of writing for and publishing to the intranet/internet.
